The Oldians celebrate their twentieth anniversary this 2023 and for such a marked event they give us 20 new songs in 'Soul'in Jamaica', their new full studio album.
The Barcelona-based Jamaican jazz band is surely one of the most prolific bands of the style in the world: since their seminal Old Secrets released in 2008, the Barcelona band now has 8 albums with this new record, in addition to the live EP Rising Sun released in 2021 and a good handful of singles.
Despite the fact that 4 years have passed since their last album, Roots'n'Soul, and with them a pandemic and a thousand life changes, The Oldians are back in action, remaining faithful devotees to their essence and sound and setting to music experiences that range from love, despair to hope and heartbreak and starting over again with the always necessary dose of dark humor.
Led by Sir J The Oldian in composition, production, recording, editing, mixing and mastering, and those vintage 6 strings of his guitar that sound only the way he wants, 'Soul'in Jamaica' treasures 20 new gems in which the band moves with their trademark dexterity through ska, rocksteady, soulful reggae and nyahbingi with the usual roster of musicians who play and blow superbly and the voice of Saphie Wells, flooding everything!!
The Oldians' new album has arrived in the world's best record stores in a deluxe double 12" vinyl edition from Liquidator Music, featuring artwork by the great Txarly Brown. The Oldians are celebrating their 20th anniversary, and the best gift we could give ourselves to celebrate is the 20 new gems contained on Soul'in Jamaica. Congratulations, and here's to many more!
