SPRAYS - I'LL SEE YOU AT TEN (REVIVAL SERIES #8)

Sprays was a classic trio from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) who played power pop with mod revival influences in the vein of bands like Jags or Vapors. The band consisted of two brothers: Guillermo and José Antonio "Tony" Rodríguez (guitar and bass/vocals respectively) and Juan Antonio Rodríguez "Rodri" on drums, who was later replaced by Jorge Yepes, formerly of Último Resorte. By 1980, the band had solidified its presence, and their concerts were typically packed with young people dressed in parkas and three-button suits. They became one of the leading lights of the Barcelona mod movement, alongside Brighton 64 and Telegrama.

Just like the Badalona band, in 1982 they signed with Flor y Nata Records, who released a single featuring hits like "Te veré a las diez" and "Estás cansado?", recorded at Albert Moraleda's Moraleda Studios in Barcelona. The result was an excellent work of vigorous and fresh pop, seasoned with lyrics that told stories of innocent teenage love and the identity crises typical of that stage of life. The record did well (a new reissue had to be done, which also sold out quickly, the only difference being that the tracks were on different sides), and this, combined with the great success of Telegrama (who were also recording at FYN), helped Ernest Casals' label decide to release Brighton 64's maxi-single the following year.

In 1983, Sprays recorded an album that was shelved somewhere and was not released until 2021, and together with the ineffable military service, it caused the band to dissolve.
