Ska Jazz Messengers is a band formed in July 2009 in Caracas, Venezuela. Around that time, the South American country experienced a boom in blending Jamaican rhythms with the rigor, versatility, and elegance of jazz. Within the Caracas alternative ska scene, there were several bands offering this sound, and Ska Jazz Messengers became one more in that list of groups playing ska jazz, following, directly or indirectly, the path of the pioneering band of that sound in Venezuela: Mr. Swing & The Bongo Clan.
