POWERSOLO - JAMBALAYA​.​.​. XTRA SPICY (SPANISH EDITION) (LP)

PowerSolo had already been honing their raw talents for decades when they headed to a barn on the Isle of Mön to record this, their 8.5-inch studio album. The concept was clear: cook up a crazy stew with all the ingredients their fans already know and love. A sort of return to their roots and their early albums from the mid-2000s, It's Raceday… and Egg. They left a bunch of very diverse songs simmering and created a flavorful dish that is simultaneously extra spicy, surprising, complex, and incredibly delicious. Like a Jambalaya: distinctly American food, but anything but conventional. We're talking Creole and Cajun cuisine influenced by African and French cooking, made with whatever ingredients were available—some high-end, some cheap, and maybe even a little stale. Seafood, chicken, and smoked pork sausage combined into a vibrant, flavorful, and utterly unique bite. Yes, the metaphor is very promising, and the album delivers.
Like the aforementioned LPs, or the successful 2014 album *The Real Sound*, *Jambalaya – Xtra Spicy* was recorded, mixed, and produced by Ulrik Petersen and Jesper Reginal (also known as The Great Nalna and Yebo of The Tremolo Beer Gut) at Dark Lateral in The Möön / Kondi Frost Studios. The musical team consisted of frontman Kim Kix and his right-hand man Anders “Peasoup” Pedersen. Former PowerSolo member JC Benz and Mike “ZACK” Sullivan alternated on drums.
Flavia Couri of The Courettes added a dash of South American spice to the duet “If I Could Fly,” and every dish deserved a touch of French sweetness. It was provided on “She’s A Trucker” by none other than Phoebe Killdeer of Nouvelle Vague and Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws. Kix previously produced and guest-starred on these ladies’ recordings, and both were happy to join the feast that is Jambalaya – Xtra Spicy.
