MUNLET - PLAYS DEVO (LP)

“Munlet Plays Devo” marks Munlet's return to the music scene with his first album in seven years. The project began before the pandemic, with Munlet performing as DEVO at several Izar Stars concerts hosted by Jerry Corral, achieving great success with both audiences and critics. Then came the dreaded pandemic we all know so well. Everyone was stuck at home, yes, but for the band, the hiatus wasn't wasted. It allowed them to properly record all these classic tracks that we now present to you. Twelve superb covers that update a series of already magical songs. And yes, we celebrate Munlet's return to the spotlight, but this LP is above all a celebration of the music of DEVO, a crucial band for understanding the evolution of rock from the mid-1970s onward. They deconstructed American music based on blues, rockabilly, jazz, and even classical, fusing it all with groundbreaking rhythms, avant-garde electronica, and above all, their philosophy of DE-EVOLUTION, which permeates all their imagery.
Munlet recreate those sounds in this new artifact, immersing the Akron band in their two-headed universe, adapting some of their most popular songs to Spanish and, get this!, even to Basque, in an amazing twist in which this revolutionary band is interpreted in a pre-Roman language for the first time, and where you can even hear the sounds of a woodcutter's axe instead of the classic whip cracks.
The magnificent artwork by Estudio Perkins perfectly complements the Devotee musical style, and even includes an insert with cutouts and other paraphernalia, just like those of
Ohio did in their albums. All of this ultimately gives us a well-rounded, magnificent, collectible object, and essential for any self-respecting party.
The needle jumps, it's time to flip the record. On side B you'll find more classic tracks, the ones Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, or Bowie would have killed to have written…
