The Paniks are the most celebrated myth in the Biscayan caves where the rawest and most visceral rock'n'roll explodes.
Over 20 years of intermittent activity, punctuated by occasional bursts of brilliance, where they exude ferocity, power, and savagery, yet always controlled, maintaining composure, without losing their cool or their style. As if to say, we're going to destroy you, but without breaking a sweat. Rioja screams himself hoarse in every verse, spitting out every stanza and vomiting up every track, while his unbridled guitar expels venomous riffs without restraint, supported by a rhythm section devoid of embellishments or flourishes, basic but rigorous, essential for nailing the raw and exciting sound of these illustrious forgotten figures who, 20 years later, reclaim their place in the pantheon of the best garage punk ever produced on the Iberian Peninsula.
The Panik Kontroversy was their debut album. Released in 2003, we're celebrating its 20th anniversary by releasing an LP version, as it was originally only available on CD. It arrived, exploded onto the scene, leaving an indelible mark on those who heard it, and then time buried it. However, many of its songs remain part of the essential repertoire that the band continues to perform live today, achieving anthemic status in the minds of many of their loyal fans who, even now, when they see Los Paniks emerge from their cave to play live, get that feeling that it's going to be a great day. That they're going to be shaken up, but that they're going to enjoy it like only extreme experiences can.
