Unripened (Demos And Rare Tracks) documenta una de las grabaciones "perdidas" más esenciales de la historia del rock: la primera versión de estudio de The Velvet Underground & Nico, grabada en abril de 1966. Presentada por Andy Warhol a Columbia Records, esta versión del álbum fue finalmente rechazada, pero sigue siendo una poderosa ventana a los inicios de la banda.
Varias canciones aparecen en forma embrionaria, algunas notablemente diferentes de las versiones finales publicadas en 1967. Esta demo previa al lanzamiento omite "Sunday Morning" y "There She Goes Again", que aún no se habían grabado.
