SLAVERY RECORDS, PEDRO LEARRETA
Her story tells, in the first person, the two sides of Susan Slavery, a survivor who has run her eponymous record store since September 1, 1999 — actually a rectangle of just over sixty square meters — located on the corner of Fairfax and Norton, in the heart of West Hollywood in the city of Los Angeles.
In the style of High Fidelity, the British novel published by Nick Hornby in 1995, its particular owner, surrounded by fabulous Jason Gallant, William Campbell and other customers who stop by, reveals her likes, dislikes and illusions to the rhythm of Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, Muddy Waters' Hard Again or Tom Waits' Closing Time.
The aftertaste left by reading it is, blatantly, that of an irresistible bitter taste of cellulose and plastic.
