MIKE SÁNCHEZ & THE LIMBOOS (7")

The third release from the new Hot 45's label is packed full of top-tier rhythm & blues.

Marcos Sendarrubias and Iñaki López, the bosses of H45's, have managed to bring together in the studio two heavyweights of the genre: the veteran professional hardened in 1000 battles named Mike Sanchez, along with the combo that has been generating the most buzz in the last five years, The Limboos.

Such a union could not possibly produce a bad result, but the outcome is surprising; four amazing songs that sound divine, in which rock 'n' roll, early soul, New Orleans rhythm & blues are mixed together and above all the attitude that Mike & The Limboos exude from every pore.

LET'EM ROCK opens fire by putting all the meat on the grill, with an initial verse reminiscent of Big Al Downing's Down At The Farm, leading to a hypnotic riff chorus with Roi Fontoira's guitar and the rest of Limboos throwing sparks while Mike shows off his rockier side.

FOREVER TRUE could easily be a Fats Domino track, but no, it's original, just like the rest. A bouncy, yet restrained tempo with a melody that radiates incredible good vibes, while piano and guitar alternate in the solo. "I'll be forever true," Mike sings, and I believe it.

Side B, "Just a Game," opens with Mike's piano and a driving drumbeat—pure rock 'n' roll, or rather hard rock 'n' roll—timeless, catchy, and again with a strong emphasis on melody. It's the kind of track we all would have loved to find on Elvis Presley's next studio album after *Moody Blue*.

And to close, WALK WITH ME relaxes things, with an incredibly beautiful beginning, just Mike's voice alongside Santiago Sacristán's double bass, gradually introducing percussion, guitars, winds, all simple and smooth, contained, with Mike's charismatic voice leading the way, inviting you to walk with him and inevitably taking you to the end of the world.

It's a fucking shame that this only has four songs; the album leaves you wanting more, and the only solace is listening to it again and again and again… what a marvel, friends! I hope this project finds a chance to be presented live and stands the test of time. The chemistry that emerges from these grooves can't be a fleeting thing.
