THE MONKS - MY MOMMY SAID / POOR GIRL (7")

A reissue of one of the very first proto-punk garage recordings ever released worldwide. This 1965 "made in Mexico" artifact is a prime example of this characteristically wild sound that, for reasons unknown, arrived in these parts ten years early. What's truly curious is that none of the pioneering punk bands were aware of each other. It all emerged spontaneously in various places, as if summoned by Viracocha or Pachacamac, imbuing versions of beat, garage, and other music from the north with this legendary stamp.
