From Ponce (Puerto Rico) to the heart of Arkansas, from Little Rock to Port Antonio and Kingston (Jamaica). Gospel? Early Reggae? 60s? Rocksteady? By day, a beloved organist in various churches. By night, jamming with black music in the smoky clubs of Little Rock and Memphis.
1973: The iconic film Jesus Christ Superstar premiered, a landmark and inspiration for Jesse Lee. Months later, he traveled to Port Antonio, Jamaica. While visiting Kingston, Jesse Lee met Bunny Lee, Clancy Eccles, Harry J, and Joe Gibbs, and recorded some jams with them in their studios. On his way home, tragedy struck: his plane crashed off the coast of Florida. All crew and passengers perished instantly. His recordings were lost, forgotten... until now.
And who is the Zion Orchestra? Simple, the musicians who have helped to revive the forgotten organ of the great Jesse-Lee Jackson: Marta Trujillo (vocals), Ramón Vagué (bass), Albert Beneït (drums and percussion), Marc Serrats (guitar), Cantoná Gospel Choir (backing vocals), Lee Perro (producer of 2021) and Esteban Descalzo (mastering engineer of 2021).
