GREG 'STACKHOUSE' PREVOST.- Vintage Violence: Barbaric, Crude & Primitive 1975-1979 Gatefold LP
If you're a Chesterfield Kings fan, you probably know that Greg Prevost was in other bands before forming them. Only one of them, Distorted Levels, managed to release a single back then (1978). But there were more, quite a few more. You may have heard or read about mysterious groups like Mr. Electro and The Void, The Cutdowns, Mr. Electro and The Psychedelic Burnouts, and so on. They all recorded extensively, although unfortunately most of the master tapes disappeared under equally mysterious circumstances. But some material survived. Here we have a selection of unreleased demos—except for the aforementioned Distorted Levels 7"—along with four previously unreleased songs from the early Chesterfield Kings, recorded in the late 70s. The double-page spread features text by Greg with over 30 photos/press clippings from his personal archive and liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things magazine).
