RUBBLE - PURE TINPLATE (LP)

“Hojalata Pura,” Escombros’ first album, is a piece of rusty iron someone found discarded in a San Blas park. If it could be played, it would sound raw like the bands of El Rollo (that scene in Madrid before neon lights and plexiglass), with Coz at the forefront; it would sound dirty like La Trapera; and it would sound angry but also proud, sometimes like Cicatriz, sometimes like Ilegales. Jorge Ilegal himself makes an appearance in the final seconds of “Que suene rocanrol,” just before the monologue by David El Gnomo (the gnomologist?) that opens “Una pera no es un higo.” The former speaks of garbage; the latter, of destruction.
All these references, and more, make up Escombros' debut album (FOLC Records, 2021), their first full-length release after a superb self-released EP. “Hojalata Pura” features nine songs showcasing the ferocious vocals of their singer, Miguel, backed by a solid punk rock band—call it what you will—where power and speed are the norm. Nine songs about the eternal struggle between sanity and chaos, with the streets and bars as their natural ecosystem. Let rock and roll play in the middle of this carnival.
