Bandits' new album, their third album, ten years after 'Algo especial', their previous work.
Time has allowed the songs and the band members to mature, both physically and mentally, to offer us a work of art simply titled: '3'.
February 2024, as we approach the final stages of releasing this album. While thinking about and reviewing details before going to press, Bernat Roca came to mind. Suddenly, two years have passed since his death. We miss him. We would have loved to share this album with him on his turntables and hear his thoughts. Humble and indispensable, he lives on in the memory of La Plana Tropical.
That's why we dedicate this album to Bernat. Also to his brother Robert and sister Vero. For the friendship, the recognition, and for the joy of meeting on "l'Illa del Tresor".
Within its wooden walls, Bernat, Robert, and Vero Roca, from their bar, crafted an open, friendly, and enriching meeting point for building the local scene. It was a space that catalyzed new synergies within the emerging Jamaican music scene. It was at l'Illa del Tresor (2003-2007) that new affinities and musical projects took shape, and a new generation of DJs made their debut. And it was also where some of us who are now Bandits got to know each other.
Obviously, there were other essential figures working tirelessly for reggae and DJ sets, educating the public about antifascist and ska culture. The work of Jamaican Memories was necessary and non-negotiable; the legendary and wonderful Lola fostered a sense of community; and Ferran Carbonell was a pioneer and activist since his time with Novecento in Benicàssim in the early 90s. These lines serve to highlight the work, attitude, and legacy of this group, so that we may move forward with determination toward the future of La Plana Tropical. Utmost respect and remembrance.
