Following Franco's death and during the Transition, Spain experienced a period of underground cultural flourishing. Influenced by the British punk explosion, this laid the foundations for a new artistic scene, particularly in music. In Valencia, thanks to the initiative of a few entrepreneurs and visionaries, some of the most innovative and cutting-edge nightclubs in Europe were born. It was there that the country's first DJs began operating, mixing vinyl records imported from London or brought in by the intrepid record stores that began to spring up in the city. Thus was born a club culture whose bastions were discos such as Barraca, Chocolate, Espiral, Spook Factory, Puzzle, ACTV or NOD
This book aims to recount, for the first time, this chapter of our cultural history, whose legacy has been obscured and distorted by what has been disseminated through the distorted echo chamber of the media.
