ANTONIO CAFRE & LOS TRAUMÁTICOS - NO SIN MI CHUPA (LP)

Vigo is synonymous with rock 'n' roll. This vibrant port city in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula has maintained a powerful and successful music scene for decades – from Siniestro Total in the 80s to The Soul Jacket today, to name just two examples – which still endures powerfully and defiantly.

Antonio Cafre & Los Traumáticos is made up of four veterans of the rock 'n' roll scene. Tough guys with a long, and at times brilliant, career. Over the years, each of them has recorded albums and performed on all kinds of stages, sometimes even sharing the stage with legendary bands like Pretty Things, The Lyres, Lords of the New Church, Cheetah Chrome, Barricada, and Siniestro Total, among others.

Led by frontman and lyricist Antonio Cafre, the band also features the fiery guitarist and composer Indy Tumbita, his right-hand man and co-writer, along with Antonio, of all the group's songs. But without a solid rhythm section, this pure rock 'n' roll quartet couldn't sound so loud and powerful: they are Juanma Ons, a solid and rhythm-driven bassist, and Emilio Iniesta, a Mexican-born drummer, seasoned in the New York scene of the '90s at the legendary CBGB.

Their songs maintain a raw, teenage energy, only partially softened by the passage of time, hard knocks, and experience. They've just released their debut LP on Sweet Grooves Records, and we can't recommend it enough: razor-sharp guitars, brilliant melodies, flashes of the best power pop, high-energy rock 'n' roll, and a few gems of pure sixties sound, all served up with Spanish lyrics the likes of which we haven't heard around here in ages. Crank up the volume and get ready to enjoy, but never forget: Not without my jacket!
