ALVILDA - C'EST DEJA L'HEURE (LP)

It's been three and a half years since the Parisian quartet Alvilda released "Negatif 7" on Alien Snatch. They've been touring, but there's been no sign of recorded material. Now they're finally back with their debut album for Static Shock Records, and it's undoubtedly a classic. Every minute, every inch, and every song is sleek, tight, and optimistic, with a polished and brilliant production. If you like 60s girl pop with a late 70s power pop twist, or indie pop that's been raised on a diet of finely tuned punk rock, then Alvilda will be your new favorite band, just like Dolly Mixture, Chin Chin, and Les Calamités were. The album clocks in at just under 30 minutes and never falters in quality, delivering melodies that will stay with you. Not speaking a word of French isn't a problem, as every song is instantly catchy. Alvilda are here to stay, and it's about time.
