ÁLVARO SS & HIS JAMMING SESSIONS - VOL. 2 (LP)

I'm Álvaro Sosa, a bass player originally from Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico, where I grew up and which remains my home to this day. Since childhood, I've had a great passion for music, exploring diverse rhythms and genres. However, Latin rhythms have always been a fundamental part of my life, thanks to my family's influence. Although I didn't admit it at first, I came to understand that these rhythms were part of my identity and deeply rooted in my heritage.

About 10 years ago, the idea for a Jamaican music project first took root in my mind, an inspiration that grew from the moment I discovered these rhythms and fell in love with them. This music ignited my desire to play an instrument, solidifying my dedication to this beautiful profession. However, due to my development as a musician and limited resources at the time, I wasn't able to bring the project to fruition.

My love for Jamaican music persisted, and accepting that I couldn't replicate its authentic sound, I decided to fuse the Latin rhythms I've known since childhood with Jamaican music. Thus the project was born, imbued with that Latin essence, evident in every song and in the session format that gives me the freedom to collaborate with musicians I admire.

The challenge this year is to bring the project to live stages, an idea that wasn't initially in my plans, but given the demand from those who appreciate the project, I'm willing to make it a reality. The new album follows the same concept as the first, a journey through Latin American Ska with touches of reggae and Rocksteady, maintaining the essence of the jam sessions. It includes new collaborations, stronger arrangements, and improved recording quality, because a work made with love and respect deserves the best.

I'm sure those who enjoyed Vol. 1 will fall in love with Vol. 2. With 11 flavorful tracks, this album represents the evolution of my musical passion.
