Compiled by Freiburg-based record collector and DJ Jens Galler (aka Buddy Belpaso/Forbidden Bongo Bar). We all know there are numerous Hawaiian compilations from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. But sadly, they always come with identical versions of "Aloha He." There's also a plethora of exotica compilations, encompassing the entire world of exotic music. But a tastefully curated Hawaiian vinyl compilation was still missing. So, here are the two volumes of OHANA HAWAIIANA! (Following the successful first volume, released in March 2024). Hawaiian and Hawaiian-related music for an unforgettable private pool party. Sleazy, finger-snapping, and hip-swaying, but not annoying. That's the purpose of this fantastic and unique compilation of original 7-inch records, carefully selected from his enormous private collection. This volume includes traditional Hawaiian musicians such as Alfred Apaka, a performer of "Hapa haole" music, who fused Hawaiian classical music with American pop arrangements sung in English, as well as Rudi Wairata, a leading figure in the Hawaiian steel guitar genre. But it also features music "related to Hawaii," such as that of Danish guitarist and bandleader Jorn Grauengard, American country singer Slim Whitman, and German pianist and composer Sascha Kommer. A remarkable yearning for the Hawaiian spirit and exotic music is evident in all their compositions. The artwork of the talented German artist Marcel Bontempi is the artistic culmination of this album. A must-have for all who enjoy Mai Tai nights and the tiki style!
